    Sonic 4 Empty Sonic 4

    Sonic 4 Sonic4logo

Sonic 4 is an episodic platform video game as part of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The game was developed by Dimps alongside members of Sonic Team and is intended to be a return of the roots of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Episode 1 was released in October 2010 with slight variations in exact date and price amongst its four platforms, iOS, Playstation network, Wiifare, and Xbox Live Arcade. Sonic 4 is set shortly after its predecessor Sonic & Knuckles; in the game, the main protagonist Sonic destroys Doctor Eggman's space station, the Death Egg.With the Death Egg destroyed and Angel Island returned to the sky, Sonic decides that it is time to take a break. After parting with Tails and Knuckles, he sets off to explore new territories alone; however, unbeknownst to him, his nemesis Dr. Eggman has survived their last encounter, and has revisited and rehashed some of his "very best" robotic creations in another attempt to defeat Sonic. Sonic must travel through a variety of zones to defeat Doctor Eggman once again. The game's existence was first revealed at GameSpot on September 9, 2009, under the code name Project Needlemouse, derived from the name of Mr. Needlemouse, an early prototype of Sonic the Hedgehog pitched to Sega by his designer Naoto Oshima. The site published a brief teaser trailer, and an interview with Sega's Ken Balough who acknowledged that "old-school Sonic fans have long asked to see Sonic return to a more 2D style of gameplay" and stated that "Needlemouse is that critical first step that brings Sonic back to his 2D roots". On January 11, 2010, Sega of America began a "character countdown" on their blog, removing potential playable characters from a list, which by January 14, 2010 revealed the game would feature Sonic as the only playable character. Also shown was concept art which showcased classic badniks from early Sonic games. On February 2, Sega updated the front page of Sega of America's website with a short flash animation which featured a sample of music from the game, reminiscent of old Genesis/Mega Drive sounds. The game's proper title was revealed on February 4, 2010, as Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, along with debut footage. I'll update the topic when more episodes are released. Discuss anything you can think of about Sonic 4 here.

I actually find this game pretty fun! Too bad I'm stuck on certain levels...

Only problem people had with it was the physics. Fanboys freaking of the model being Modern is just immature. But I can't see it as being a sequel but maybe the future episodes will prove me otherwise on the issue.

I heard Sega doesn't have any plans to make more than two episodes and a spinoff. Sad Guess they shouldn't have a whole lot of episodes anyway.

I honestly believe they shouldn't have these episodes. They should combine the two episodes into one game. If they made an episode 3, or possibly Sonic 5, SEGA would most likely bring back Knuckles.

True. Tails is coming back in episode 2 right? Very Happy I read that it's the first game since 06 that had a playable character other than Sonic in story mode. Unless I'm thinking of another game.

Well you were able to play as different characters in Sonic and the Black Knight. And yes Tails is returning along with Metal Sonic for Episode 2.

Which means that, while doing the math about the game's predicted popularity, they divided by zero somewhere along the line. OH S-

Considering the fact that they divided by zero, you may swear freely.

Really? Haha, happy almost birthday then! Very Happy It's coming out in May, right? I can't wait!

And to Daniel, whenever I try to think how it could be possible to divide something by zero to prove calculators wrong, I get so frustrated I just imagine a big explosion and avoid thinking about it. XD Yeah I'm weird like that.

Oh and a reply to your older post:

That's true. As awesome as the Genesis is and how badly Sega wants to please the fans again, they're not going to bring back a console that discontinued over 15 years ago just for one game. Especially when Sega's last console didn't sell so well and died out ten years ago.

And some fans being hypocrites, such as saying that they wanted a classic 2D game, but then after it comes out they complain about Sega being "lazy". Surprised I haven't seen people complain that Sonic's not in his classic style. And then fans wanted Sonic to be the only playable character like in Sonic 1, but then complain about the lack of side characters. *shakes head*

Well actually fanboys did complain about Sonic not being the Classic version in Episode 1, and I'm sure more will do the same for Episode 2. Either they're trying to fool people and be trolls or they're just obsessed with Classic Sonic. I don't complain about the games. I just play them and move on. Episode 2 from what I see has improved from Episode 1, both in terms of display with graphics and control.

Episode 2 just came out this week, right? I'm so upset that's it's not being released for the Wii Shop like episode 1 was. Guess I'll have to wait untill I get my XBox. Which won't be for another few months, at least.
